School Life | After School Activities
At Sydney Japanese International School, we believe in providing our students with a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom. That’s why we offer a variety of exciting after-school activities every afternoon that cater to all interests.
We have partnered with experienced external instructors who bring their expertise to ensure high-quality sessions. These activities typically commence at 3.30pm and run until approximately 4.30pm – 5.00pm. Please note, students participating in these activities are unable to catch the school bus home, so please make plans to pick students up from school.
Our after-school program boasts an impressive array of options, guaranteeing something for everyone. Here are just a few examples of the activities we offer:
- Karate (Monday): Unleash your inner strength and discipline through this traditional Japanese martial art form.
- Sado (Monday fortnightly): Immerse yourself in the serene world of the Japanese tea ceremony and cultivate mindfulness.
- Cheerleading (Tuesday & Thursday): Learn energetic routines, teamwork, and spirit as you master the art of cheerleading.
- Multi-Sports Club (Wednesday): Discover a world of sports and stay active with a variety of games and challenges.
- Guitar (Thursday): Strum your way to musical proficiency with expert guidance from our talented guitar instructors.
- Chess (Friday): Engage in strategic thinking and enhance your problem-solving skills with the ancient game of chess.
- Soccer (Wednesday & Friday): Develop your soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship on the field with our dedicated coaches.
- Otanoshimi (fun activities) Club (Wednesday & Friday): Come play Japanese games, read books and enjoy fun activities together after school!
Please note that activities may vary from term to term, allowing our students to explore new passions and interests as they progress through their educational journey.
The SJIS after-school program is designed to inspire our students, promote personal growth, and encourage them to pursue their passions…and of course, while having lots of fun!
