Enrolment | Japanese Division - Primary (Japanese Curriculum)
Thank you for your interest in enrolling in the Japanese Division of the Sydney Japanese International School. Students enrolled in the Japanese Division study the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) curriculum, and also have daily English lessons, as well as mixed lessons with the International Division for music, visual art, physical education and coding.
To ensure eligibility for enrolment in the International Division, prospective students and their families must meet certain legal conditions, including holding the appropriate visas to legally reside, work, or study in Australia.
Enrolment process
To begin the enrolment process for a place in the Japanese Division, please:
- Read and agree to the Enrolment Terms and Conditions
- Complete the Online Application Form (Please select English or Japanese from the drop-down menu in the top right corner of the application page)
- Pay the application fee to register on the waiting list
- Attend an assessment* with the Principal of the Japanese Division – we will send you an invitation
- If successful, you will receive enrolment forms and a Conditions of Entry document. Please pay all the necessary fees at this time.
* Please note, the assessment is a simple evaluation of the child’s language skills and current study ability undertaken by the Principal of the Japanese Division. It takes approximately 15 minutes and once completed, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Accepted Visas
SJIS does not accept enrolments from students on international student visas. Parents must have either Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency, or hold an Australian business, researcher or student visa. Tourist visas are not eligible for enrolment at SJIS.
Children with Japanese citizenship are eligible to enrol in the SJIS Japanese Division (Japanese Curriculum).
Students who are not Japanese citizens, but who have been undertaking Japanese education may also be eligible to enrol in the Japanese Division. However, they must meet certain entry requirements before any offer of enrolment is granted.
