We’re thrilled you are you’re considering SJIS for your child’s educational journey!

Here are a few important details to keep in mind as you begin the enrolment process:

All Kindergarten children must turn five years of age by 31 July of the commencement year. This ensures your child is ready to embark on their exciting educational adventure with us.

To ensure a smooth enrollment process, please ensure your family holds the appropriate visas for legal residency in Australia. This includes visas for living, working, or studying in the country. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applicants on tourist visas.

Enrolment process

To be considered for a Kindergarten place at SJIS, prospective families must:

* Please note, this assessment isn’t designed to measure a child’s academic ability, but instead aims to assess their school readiness. No preparation is required, and an interpreter is available if English is not the child’s first language.

Accepted visas

SJIS does not accept enrolments from students on international student visas. Parents must have either Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency, or hold an Australian business, researcher or student visa. Tourist visas are not eligible for enrolment at SJIS.

Orientation

Kindergarten orientation is held in November the year prior to commencement, and the official Entrance Ceremony takes place the following January.

When to apply

SJIS accepts applications from birth through to the year prior to commencing, depending on availability. We accept Kindergarten students of any language ability, and language foundations will be taught throughout the year.

We look forward to warmly welcoming your family into our vibrant SJIS community! Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Name

The Sydney Japanese International School acknowledges the Garigal people as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which our school is located. We pay our respects to their ancestors and descendants who continue cultural and spiritual connections to Country. We recognise that these lands have always been places of teaching, learning and storytelling. May the spirit of the Garigal people always be present with us under the shade of the beautiful trees across our campus, when we hear the sounds of nature and feel the sun and ocean breeze on our skin, and as we grow, play, learn and connect.
