Mixed Lessons

Learning | Mixed Lessons

Mixed lessons at the Sydney Japanese International School bring together students from different divisions to provide them with a unique learning experience. These lessons offer an authentic and natural context for students to practise their language skills and learn from one another.

The school provides mixed lessons in four main areas: music, visual art, physical education (PE), and coding. Students also learn to play instruments, participate in school concerts, express their creativity, and engage in sports and dances from both Australian and Japanese cultures.

In addition, they have the opportunity to learn coding from an external expert highly experienced in computer programming. Mixed lessons are a crucial component of the SJIS curriculum as they promote cross-cultural learning and the natural transfer of language skills and knowledge.

Name

The Sydney Japanese International School acknowledges the Garigal people as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which our school is located. We pay our respects to their ancestors and descendants who continue cultural and spiritual connections to Country. We recognise that these lands have always been places of teaching, learning and storytelling. May the spirit of the Garigal people always be present with us under the shade of the beautiful trees across our campus, when we hear the sounds of nature and feel the sun and ocean breeze on our skin, and as we grow, play, learn and connect.
