Learning | Japanese High School Division (Japanese Curriculum Years 7-9)
Secondary education in Japan is divided into junior high school and senior high school. Junior high school covers Years 7 to 9, and it is mandatory for students to complete these years. Senior high school, which covers Years 10 to 12, is not mandatory, but in Japan more than 95% of students proceed to senior high school. Most schools require students to undertake an entrance exam and are academically ranked, based on their success in placing graduates in the most prestigious universities.
